On 16 August 16 2024, AquaFlask NZ had the privilege of sponsoring the Youth Peace Symposium at the Western Springs Garden Community Hall, organised by The Peace Foundation. This year’s theme, Whakanuia Rongonui mā, Teitei mā, te Hunga i Hohou i te Rongo—or “Celebrating Peace Icons – Past, Present, and Future”—set a meaningful tone for the gathering of rangatahi from secondary schools throughout the region.
The Youth Peace Symposium offers an important space for young people to come together safely to discuss relevant societal issues. By fostering peace education, the event plays a vital role in informing ākonga (students) about the importance of peace and conflict resolution. It encourages values such as manaakitanga (hospitality), whanaungatanga (relationships), and kotahitanga (unity), allowing participants to share, network, and engage in valuable conversations.
As part of our commitment to supporting the community, AquaFlask NZ provided water bottles during the event. This contribution aligns with our mission to give back to initiatives that empower youth and foster positive change.
The symposium showcased the remarkable potential of young rangatira (leaders) to come together and make a difference in their whānau and communities. By celebrating peace icons from the past and present, participants were inspired to reflect on their own roles in promoting peace and envisioning a harmonious future.
AquaFlask NZ is proud to play a part in supporting the Youth Peace Symposium and contributing to the broader goal of building a more peaceful society. We look forward to seeing the impact of this event on the young leaders who participated and the communities they will influence in the years to come.
